It's this snack cake thingwith a creme filling that's horribly bad for you. They're very very good though. I think its origins come from back during the Great Depression in America, but even after the Depression, it stuck around!

a;yeah, they are really old. They cahnged the creme filling form bananna to vanilla over WWII because they needed bananna flavoring for there tanks.. i dont' know, they chnaged it for some reason. I guess theya re back to bananna recently, or they have two kinds, I don't eat them so i relaly don't know.

There was a Hostess factory near where I grew upwhere large amount of Twinkies were produced. I've never liked them, though - the sponge cake is somewhat rubbery and the filling is to sweet. Ho Hos are a different story.
