Those never work for me.
When I cross my eyes I see four images, not one.

Yeh, I figure about 50% of folks are now gonna curse me for being unable to get this,
but I the other half are gonna love it! Sorry! *edit* You're crossing too far, meld the 2 inner most images on top of each other, lean your head from side to side till they match in height, then focus on the middle image.

I can do them if I save it and zoom out to about 12.5% or something ridiculous.
My eyes just don't cross enough to get the two large pictures to line up. But yet oddly I can still do Magic Eyes, despite the principle being exactly the same.

I can do Magic Eyes too.
I don't need to cross my eyes for them; I just put them in long-distance focus.

Yes but you incorrectly think you're looking the wrong way down a very large telescope:P

Cross your eyes 'till the two become one in the middle & you can only see THREE.
That's how it works if this helps any.

But when I cross my eyes they go out of focus
because the focus is on the tip of my nose.

You're crossing them the wrong way.......just r-e-l-a-x them & double vision happens naturally.

That's not crossing the eyes, though.
That's distance-focusing.

So re-focus
(

Then I'll no longer be cross-eyed.

Where your eyes are positioned and how they are focussing are entirely different things!
If you are looking at your finger 5 cm from your nose you are cross eyed AND in focus, this is no different.

I disagree. I think we have different definitions of cross-eyed.

That would explain it.
Cross eyed is when your eyes are crossed, ie, looking at something so close their eye line appears to cross over one another.
