Starting in the UK?
Barring fish and chips, our food has been lousy since the 1950s, meat flavoured lard with salt on it.
Hence the foreign takeaways everywhere.

They're not really foreign any more -
we've incorporated the cuisine into our own culture and made it our own. The Indian and Chinese food we eat here isn't the same as the food eaten by real Indian people living in India and real Chinese people living in China.
