i'm not sure of the make of the sound cardso i was hoping i could get a 'generic' driver - maybe i'm just being to optimistic! :D

Can you open up the computerand look at the sound card? It might have the manufacturer and model printed on it.

read the report and find the bit about the audio card and see whet it reports. It may have a link to the manufacturer if it recognises the card.
Sadly there are too many platforms ( soundmax, cmedia, soundblaster etc. ) that are not similar in operation so a 'one driver fix' is unlikely.
