bothI merrily thought about doing it until I was told I couldn't, but have spoken with people who have done it and they said it was very painful... but it's still very worth doing if you can and you don't mind the pain/risk/potential time off work.

Are you on about the actual giving of marrow?( which of course only happens after you are matched and both sides consent ) or just going on the registry? Being registered as a donor just takes some form filling and a small blood sample for tissue-typing.
