OK, OK.I'll admit to the odd venture into 5/4 and 13/8. But it's folk/jazz/jazz/folk stuff, really. And Stereolab, the exception that makes rules look as idiotic as they are...
Having said that, I think I've established a decent rule of thumb that almost scans, though:
Beyond 4/4, 6/8 and 3/4,
Turn in electric instruments at the sodding door.
