This is actually trueover the last few hundred million years all the animals and plants have died and created enormous amounts of dirt where before there was nothing but blank space. This has created a suction effect on the inner core of the planed and it has expanded to fit the dirt around it.
As the earth expands so do the fossils and this is why the skeletons look so big.
