True, Leslie Neilson was greatas he was always taken as a serious actor in the early years of his career and only Police Squad and Airplane brought out the satire/parody that was inherent in serious acting and so Neilson was a perfect foil for that kind of spoof - unfortunately when he continued with the parody taking it too far he became most famous for parodies and not the serious acting that made him famous thereby he became old hat very quickly and unlikely as an option for any serious film parts.

Yes unfortunately too many of the greats have gone down that pathLuckily for Jim Belushi however - he managed to die before he got typecasted lol ;)
