I gave up for about 2 yearsthen was enticed back by a mate on the promise I could 'play what I wanted'.
Now I have a regular outdoors summer gig on a Saturday night which is ace. This means I won't get stale/bored.
I don't think you lose it, it's just nice to do it occasionally.
