Oh ok.The Silver Sequence is about a monster who wants to eat all the children.
Then the adults. Then everything else.
In that order :P
At one point, she monster sends out two newborn monsters to help her, and one gets a huge girder thrown through it.
This is how it's described, in the book.
"The newborn was not ready for it. She saw it but not in time. It pierced her deeply and as it entered her she screamed in pain."
