he's doing well, and surprisingly the other two old cats are being very tolerent of his charging at them

I've noticed that if they cats are over seven years and the new cat is young.
They don't see it as a threat and if they're female and have been spade have some sort of maternal transferal on the new arrival.
Not that they don't bat the newcomers around a bit in a Victorian Dad sorta way.

I suppose that's a good thing.
They'll work out their space. THere is a cheap method of getting them to interact.
Just empty a packet of dried catnip in the middle of the most popular room.
