From Manchester to Bordeaux costs more than double to go via train and Eurostar than it does to fly. With the majority of that extra being the connections from Manchester to the Eurostar.
I'm not fussed about the extra time it would take - personally the idea of a nice journey through the French countryside I find appealing, but at least make it vaguely comparable to flying? Please?

Haha thisMy return plane ticket from Gatwick to Bordeaux in 2007 was cheaper than the train ticket from Nottingham to Gatwick

I like going on the train and it is cheaper to go into London by train then by drivingTo get to other places it is cheaper and quicker for me to drive there, even getting the tickets early it is still cheaper for me to drive. If they would just stop arsing about and upgrade the network, then it would be a lot better and a bit cheaper
