I've only heard a couple stories about my granddad's time in war through my fatherOne time he was in a foxhole with a comrade, and it was very quiet, so they decided to have a look to see what was going on. They flipped a coin and the other bloke called the 'look up and see' side; as soon as he lifted his head out of the hole a burst of machine gun fire cut directly across his neck.
