I love it because it drives my grammar-nazi friend to distraction: 'One of THOSE! One of THOSE!' Heh heh. I'm not even convinced she's right...

at a bunch of apples and said "i'm one of those" it would be correct (and you'd be an apple and an idiot). "i'm one of them" may not be 100% correct, but at least you're not an apple (or an idiot)
