It doesn't pay as well as it did a decade ago.I've always been more of a software/virus/missing files/omigodwhatdoidonowibrokeitfixer/networkystuff/teacher/tech than a hardware guy.
Truly good hardware techs are hard to find. By that I mean someone who can determine beyond doubt whether it is the video card, memory, motherboard or hard drive that is causing the problem.
The boss is a hack. He orders motherboards for laptops without even cracking the case open, then throws the fucking mess on my bench when he discovers that the video card was a separate component after all... *snicker*
