This is a normal post To be fair you can just skip it if you want.
Unless you want to get online. With the XB1 however, it seems it'll be an expensive paperweight without Internet access. Which begs the question, how long will Microsoft support the console? Will they ditch it in a decade and a bit? As they like to do with their OS's...

This is a normal post I couldn't skip my updates
The required firmware is hard coded to the disk.
Cable unplugged it'll still ask for it.

This is a normal post Strange.
Always been able to skip mine and install when I want. Try looking in the settings menu. Should be an auto update feature you can turn off.

This is a normal post Believe me I know my stuff around the PS3 files systems...
Sony hard code the discs and (UMDs for PSP) to only play on certain firmwares and up.

This is why people were upset when they took away linux in an update because they were forced to either update or stop buying new games.

I had to update my PS3 the other month just to play a blu-ray even though it's not had a connection for over a year.
Not a fancy new release, it was Kill Bill.

This is a normal post Ah, misunderstood.
Still, they include the relevant firmware update on any new game discs themselves, as far as i'm aware. So you never need to be connected.

But yeah, getting rid of Other OS was bad of them and ultimately pontless, as the system was broken open anyway.
