This is true.
I saw a documentary about the wrestlers in the UK, the types who play to a handful of bored kids at Dorking Halls on a Wednesday night. The behind the scenes stuff showed some rather painful injuries and an unsurprisingly depressing way of life - load up the van, onto the next venue with a sprained ankle etc. At least they're doing something they enjoy, I suppose.
