Whilst hilarious
outweighed by people being spastics trying to feed them chewing gum, crisps, etc; it's bad enough with the mangabey monkeys next to them. That's the problem with zoos, now days they do essential work with captive breeding programs and the decimation of animal populations in the wild, there's about 900 mountain gorillas left in the wild for example.
It's just that human beings can't really be trusted to use them, because of the high percentage of fuckwits

I saw the Gorillas at London Zoo a few years back and they just looked sad.
One of them was just sitting with his back to the glass, majestic looking with a look of affronted dignity.
Picking poo out of his bum and eating it.
I would much prefer to have the Gorillas in a private section and have people in gorilla suits on display to be abused by the public. You could even charge for extras like paint guns or water balloons.
Summer hols are coming up so you could get a few starving students no problem.

The orang-utan at Colchester
was sitting there holding a blanket over his head trying to hide in an enclosure with glass on three sides.
Although at least the bengal tiger was able to turn its back and jet hot stinking piss over a bunch of people pressed up against the wire trying to take pictures on phones. Fucking hilarious, I thought...

The problem with London Zoo is it was built in a different era
most of the buildings are listed and there isn't much space left to actually keep animals with the space these days modern collections would think it's fair to keep them. The elephants are long gone up the M1 to Whipsnade where they have acres of space. Whipsnade is cool because most of the animals up there who would otherwise not really want to be around human beings have that option to wander off into the distance. I can't help thinking the gorillas should follow. There simply isn't enough space for the gorillas in Regent's Park to have people out of their faces. Other animals such as big cats don't appear to be that bothered. Horse for courses I guess.
