paraffin wax is not soya wax. The former will always leave a black sooty residue if you try to extinguish it, and while burning sends it up into the air. Soya wax has almost no sooty residue. So the next time you buy a present for some female family member you really don't give a shit about, make sure that scented candle is soya wax, pricier yes, but so much less of a carbon footprint.

TL:DR paraffin wax contains paraffin, which is flammable.

Hydrocarbons have a tendency to be flammable. Paraffin is a hydrocarbon. They come from oil. Fracking is bad.
