This debate isn't about population control. Culling is a diffrent controversy.

It amounts to the same thing though.
Culling is a result of human interference. If we could just find a way to fuck off and leave these animals alone then there would be no 'need' for it.

Trophy hunting supporters wouldn't claim it's an effective way to manage populations
as the number of animals hunted is small. They argue that without it, in certain areas of Africa where tourism can't be developed, there would be no other financial incentive locally to conserve wildlife.
Of course, wildlife is affected by humans everywhere. Wildlife is now largely confined in parks in Africa. Some of these parks are becoming glorified zoos.
