the history of chess and its champions is full of fascinating characters and stories.
fischer certainly remains one of the most nakedly talented and interesting players in chess history, but to suggest that he was the only 'real character' is a bit daft, nor could you reasonably describe anyone playing at that level as a 'drone'.
