- but I feel like you're dumping big dollops of info on me every few paragraphs. It might just be my taste, but I prefer to learn things just a touch slower: hold back on the reveal about the Rev's alcoholism, or Elizabeth's journalist career till later.
In King's novels, he'd often keep a character as a background extra for a good while, then give you their story in a rush in the chapter where they were the star for a while - usually just before they die horribly, of course.
Keep at it! Write plenty, edit later.
