Great stuff
Are you going to try to mix in any 2 dimensional photographs?
Once you know some of the satellites are 2D, you try to pick them out, but there are plenty of “not sure”s.

Still looks remarkable. All done on an animation stand.
Also, I only learned through recent reading (haven’t read the novel) that the satellites are actually supposed to be orbiting military nuclear weapon installations. Which makes the cut from the bone (earliest weapon?) so much more profound. You can see the nation flags in the surface detailing. Apparently in the original scripted voiceover for the sequence it was more than implied, but Kubrick went with silence/music instead. I’m told the novel states it directly.

Yes, and the Starchild remotely detonates them too
It’s a shame what happened to the space station prop as well.

It might seem like I’m doing the film down, I’m not...
Just I’ve read quite a lot of stuff about it. (I bought Jerome Agel’s book twice since the first one fell apart eventually)
The cut between different era weapons had been done before
A Canterbury Tale in 1944, jump to 3 minutes in - a falcon turns into a spitfire.
