I rather suspect those being harmed would very much like it to be reported and not ignored or covered up.

I mean from a general psychological point of view.
Repeatedly watching atrocities when you are helpless to help them, tends to increase anxiety, depression, PTSD, anger, substance consumption etc.
I'm not saying ignore it, there are people who want to sort out the situation in one way or another and are better prepared. By the time we bump into it on a stream it is probably old news.
I reckon the COD players just see it as a game/movie and don't think about it or are so desensitised that it just washes over.
