pigeons do not "lay eggs". they are the immortal custodians of earth 2, hyperintelligent, transdimensional beings whose only ambition is to beat the mice to the question.
a dead pigeon's body would quickly desiccate, its bones and feathers sublimating, its eternal soul freed to return to the great cosmic coo.
