Oh I think he's fair game
solely through the fact that he's an intelligent, and respected public figure (who I admire). Personal life aside.
I suspect that doing something like this for real would appeal to his sense of humour.

Was at school with his son Tim
and there was a rumour that Tim had once reprogrammed his voice thingy to substitute rude words for common phrases.
Given our youthful age, and the likelihood it wasn't written in Basic, I doubt it. But an amusing thought.

I just was hacking on the mac
when the feasibility presented itself. There's a (really poorly documented) API for this, I may blog on how it's done, just so that others can do the same.
But I think his is hardware, and he's still using the original unit?
