It's a question of respect..
It's a bit like your girlfriend/boyfriend coming home at 5am wearing your boss's favourite T-shirt, whilst giggling and saying "Oh don't take it the wrong way! My friends were just messing about."
If you're going to dump someone then at least show a little class and do it respectfully so as not to hurt the other person's feelings. Is that too much to ask ?
