I find that story very confusing,

For whom? The cat's fine! Why are they holding it as an abused cat then?

It shows signs of recently having lost it's collar, from the looks of it the owner probably had it in a bling one that appealed to a chav, but I'll bet the bish daren't reclaim it now they're apparently some sicko cat abuser.
*edit* it's a broken cat anyway as judging by the second picture down it has 'front bollocks syndrome'...
