
From looking at it it's not taking anything away from existing students, they still need the grades and they're paying through the nose for it.
It would be elitism if they were taking away a place from a poorer student but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

They also said the highest rate of top-up fees would only apply in "exceptional circumstances," and now every fucker is charging £9000.
It would not surprise me in the least if these "extra places" became the norm in the most prestigious universities.
