
another interesting factoid from this book is when we brought tobacco back from the Indians and all got addicted to it, said Indians were not addicted as they only smoked it during rare ritualistic social events, it's just the fact when we do it we do it every day all day that's become the problem.
Same problem with smoking cannabis I suppose. Or drinking alcohol. Let's face it as a community us westerners are shit at pacing ourselves with pleasures.
*edit* Which is why I've embraced breath activated E-Cigarettes, all the highs, none o the lows, especially with the availability of synthetic cannabinoids in powder form that happen to disperse quite happily into the vapour liquids, great for movie watching! ;)

But what's nice is he backs up everything about illegal drugs with facts, notes and refs that totally support everything he says and it's very balanced, both the positives and negatives put in context to our society and it's needs and stood against similar legal activities for harm comparison. Very sensible.
Fascinating that THAT is what gets you sacked from being a part of making governmental policies on the matter...
