I knew a guy with an untreated cleft palate - basically a hole in his face that he tried to cover with his beard.
He said that worse than the pointers were the people who either didn't acknowledge him at all, or treated him like a pitiable thing.
Thank God for modern medicine and good people willing to donate to help a kid out.
