Sad to hear that this chap died today. Bringing Joplin's music to the masses was a great thing to do and his arrangements in The Sting were fun. I prefer the raw piano versions, hence this guy playing the Maple Leaf Rag. This performer's other rag vids are well worth a look if you like the music. He's got a real talent.

I've never been able to play a proper version of this, but then I've never tried learning one. At present I've memorised Bethena, Pleasant Moments, The Chrysanthemum, Scott Joplin's New Rag, Combination March, Country Club, Elite Syncopations and a bit of a simpler version of Original Rags. My head can't take much more :)
As a listener, the last two stanzas of the Maple Leaf are two of my all time favourites though.

I grew up loving the music he made in some of my favourite films. The new Liberace film looked brilliant too.

A film about Liberace, you say? That must be worth watching.

A chorus line. The Liberace thing is for HBO and if it's HBO it's bound to be good! Although Matt Damon and Michael Douglas as lovers o_O
