Interesting idea.
I would have gone further though and had a piece that protects the spine too.
Could be placed as part of a backpack.

I like the idea
I don't see it being a complete replacement for bike helmets, but it looks like a useful alternative.
I'd like to see how it fares in a direct comparison too.
