The Who, for a Friday
a stage hand, at the request of Keith Moon, had overloaded Moon's kick drum with explosives. When they were detonated, the explosion was so intense, Moon was injured by cymbal shrapnel and bandmate Pete Townshend's hearing was permanently damaged.

there exists footage
of deep purple doing something similar - loading their speaker cabs with lighter fuel or something. the resulting explosion knocked ian paice and jon lord from their seats, and threw ritchie blackmore a few feet from where he was standing.
