I can't hear the beginning of Baba O'Riley without getting excited. For years I have tried to figure out some kind what notes were being played, and tried to find some way of translating it to another instrument.
It turns out that the intro may not have been a carefully and cleverly programmed synthesizer with billions of notes, but an ordinary electric organ set to "Marimba Repeat".
Amazing.

Always thought it sounded vaguely familiar...
Top work!

I get extra music geek points for noting that it was inspired by A Rainbow In Curved Air by Terry Riley, hence the second half of the title?
