Where Did It All Go Wrong?
Woocfot asks: Tell us all about that turning point in your life when it started going downhill. Yeah, that drunken conversation with my dad when he suggested I become a civil servant. Dammit, I could have been an astronaut

When I read this question, I thought I was happy and couldn't think of anything to write.
And I am in a pretty regret-free situation. Life's going alright. Then I read a few bits of other people's answers and realised that I do have a problem.
It all started in 2004 when I moved from a sales environment to a marketing job. The blissful ignorance of life was shattered. I saw how shallow and money-driven EVERYTHING was. Where before I saw a fun talent show, I now saw a popularity contest with no winners other than those who took the money from the advertising breaks and so on.
This slide continued with subscriptions to Private Eye and the reading of Flat Earth News (among other things).
I am now a terminal cynic who hates most things, purely for the fact that most things are hateable and pointless drivel.
It was also in or around 2004-5 that I joined B3ta. Possibly there's a link...

Life is but an unrelenting march through increasing pain unto eternal death.

I was quite happy pre-2004 watching the puppet show.
Post 2004, I saw the paedo puppeteers wanking behind the curtain. There's no way back from that.
And you're right.

Hugs always make things better.
Hang on, what's that poking into me?
*keeps on hugging anyway*

Oh god.
I never started listening to that unsufferable cunt. Imagine me if I had!

That's probably
the best description of him I've ever seen.
Although the high court judge who called him "devious, truculent and unreliable" did a pretty good job.

There is a link.
It's purple and may contain traces of horsemeat.
