I had a bottom abscess last year.
The GP got an initial finger all the way up just to 'palpate', which felt bad enough.

However, when I came round from the surgery, I had a glistening new haemorrhoid hanging out of my arse, which hurt to shit past almost as much as the original abscess. I also had a general feeling of 'wideness' about me.

So to answer your question: I'm not sure, but if it dragged that hideous pink vein out with it, it must have been the best part of a fist.
