It wasn't until the b3ta mods read the Flashman novels that we changed from mild-mannered computer operators into heavily-whiskered copulators, poltroons and all round bastards in a well-known cavalry regiment.

not so much a 'changed my life'but more of a 'changed my understanding of the world.
The L Shaped Room, by Lynne Reid Banks. Taught me , with my middle class teenage view of the world, that there are other people out there who don't have it so good.
