He certainly wouldn't be squealing like a stuck pig. Never an emotion did he show. My point was that unless it was fatal, he wouldn't stop.

Dicipline was so high that one boy, during a black belt grading, had to demonstrate jumping round house kicks. He fell awkwardly on the last one and dislocated his hip. He lay there, trying not to scream, and his parents just sat there, knowing they weren't really allowed into the training area. Master Loke just calmly got up, pushed the boys knee to his chest, pulled the leg back into it's socket and told him to get up and carry on.

Not only did the boy get up, he actually tried to do another kick, at which point he was allowed to sit down.

Unless you've practiced under strict rules and have absolute respect for someone, that just doesn't happen.

My dad once asked him "what would you do if someone came at you with a crowbar?". He replied "Block it with my arm". My dad enquired "But what if it broke your arm?" The answer - "I'd kill him with the other one.". He wasn't joking, either...
