Hate to tell you this, butthose DVDs are probably perfectly playable. Unlike CDs, which have the data stamped on the label side of the disc, just below all the ink, DVDs have the data sandwiched between two half-thickness discs, which together make up the whole DVD. Scratching the label side will do bugger all unless you go right through the top disc.
You get a click for the effort, though!
