This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Abba
This isn't going to be a piece of shameless iconoclasty, so apologies if you're reading this expecting a rant.

I've heard it said, by a dj I'm extremely fond of,

"If you don't like Abba, you don't like music." Can't agree with this, I'm afraid.

I can appreciate the songwriting of Abba; the melodies are full of hooks, the harmonies simple but effective, and they've certainly produced some floorfillers. But despite this, and the depth provided by the complicated relationships within the band, they leave me completely cold. I can't explain it, friends have tried to get me to like them, but it doesn't work.

Mrs Milky wants me to watch Mamma Mia, but I expect I'll just nod off or something.

I hate ABBA
they were the big thing when I was a teenager and I really loathed them back then too.

I wasn't fussed about seeing it but went for the sake of domestic peace
Go. It's a no-effort-required giggle and has no Yanks saving civilisation, explosions, Uzis or 4king helicopters for a change; and you'll find out how many of the words you've unwittingly memorised over the years!

Yes....
totally with you on that. People always says, "Oh everyone likes Abba. Their tunes are so singalongable !" .... or words to that effect. Well, I fucking don't. When they were first out I was listening to
rock music and punk and reggae. So why in God's name would I like Abba ? And as for Mamma Mia ... just - NOOOOOO !
