Well...
It reflects a misdirection of humanity's priorities. A brilliant scientist who contributes more to our species advancement in the first five years of his career than any footballer, will be rewarded with a fraction of the wealth that a top footballer gets for a short career before they quit at thirty. Someone who works hard keeping the country running, making decisions about local city planning or trying to save some spending on local services after New Labour and Tescos suck all the money out of the local economy, will never get a thousandth of the recognition despite having a far greater effect on the lives of people in their community. It all seems very unjust.

Not that I get angry about footballers' wages myself. But I think they're getting pissed in the same way you would when you see someone throwing around loads of money on flashy pointless cars whilst people go homeless on the streets. Lot of things that could be done with that money, and how much does any one person really need?

Sorry - I just realised I made a serious answer. I shall say "cock" now for humerous purposes. :)
