However, it all depends on the individual, and the circumstance.
My girlfriend is of a different ethnic background - therefore very far removed from my mum. Plus, she looks about 15 years younger than her birth certificate says she is.

To top it off, her mental age is younger than mine is, so the age gap doesn't make itself felt that much.
