The way I heard the story...
Was that the guy was a railway worker and was coupling up cars to make a train and somehow signals got crossed and the train back up into him while he was between the couplers and basically coupled a train through him. they sent for the wife and kids to say good bye as the moment they uncoupled the cars the guy died.
