*click*Had a similar experience with my maths teacher in Scotland (Eric Ross, if you're reading this, I still think that you're an idiot).
He told me that I was "too imaginative" to be a mathematician or a scientist of any sort, thus crushing the burgeoning science geek of a young Edmund.
Got an A in my O grade. A in A level maths and further maths.
BSc MSc and PhD latter (all maths or maths based) I'm now over it.
