Look on the bright side......in a week's time, you may see an even BETTER house that's cheaper. You'll get it, love it, and look back on this moment that you think is a disaster now, and say "thank god we didn't get that house".
I had the same thing getting my house (tiny little one-bedroom terrace house, perfect for me). The house I was after fell through when I got gazumped. Dejected, I started looking around for something else...and immediately found the house NEXT DOOR that had JUST come on the market, was roughly the same price, had a MUCH better kitchen, full central heating (which the other one lacked) and a driveway to boot!
I now live next door to the other house...which is still forlornly for sale, ten months on.
