I was once asked to not ask too many KYC questions
about one of our Nigerian clients. I was only relatively junior and still hadn't turned into the apathetic cynic that I am now so I reported him to Financial Services as suspicious. Turns out he was. I didn't get the sack though, which was nice.

Know Your Client
Principally involves checks that they are who they say they are and evidence of the source of any funds or assets they hold or control. It is supposed to be the first line of defence against money laundering etc.

I'm a qualified money-launderer.
Every year I have to study for and pass a test which proves I know how to launder money.

Or maybe it's to prove I know how to spot when others launder money. I forget which.
