GRRRRRRRRI got annoyed on your behalf just reading that !!
My wife and my mother both do this. Try as I might I just can't half close a door or drawer as they do and get it to stop half opened, I find it physically impossible.
I walk into the kitchen and loudly say "Oh is this drawer jammed? Oh no it seems to close quite easily"
The irony is quite lost on them.
