I was on an American Airlines flight once when the air stewardess (attendant/service crew or whatever term is de rigeur) used the intercom to berate one gentleman who did exactly this with similar results. I think they are more confident in doing this because they have federal powers (or some such authority whilst on the plane I believe).

If I had the power,I most definitely would. It might teach them a lesson but at the very least it would be quite cathartic.
