nothingworn's story of being waved out of sight reminds me of something I do.I always watch my kids out of sight, and if they're on a train or in a car I don't turn away until I can't see or hear the vehicle any more, and I don't stop thinking about them until I lose track of where they'll be on their journey.
Mums're like that.

I'm the oppositeBeing the superstititious hillbilly that I am, I deliberately look away/stop waving/go back in the house BEFORE they get out of sight, because of the old belief if you do that, you'll never see them again.
Stupid, I know.
